Send a campaign
Broadcast an approved template to an opted-in audience, and read the report afterwards.
A campaign sends one approved template to many opted-in contacts, at a rate you choose. Campaigns need a Live workspace and a plan that includes them.
- 1Press “New campaign” and name it.
- 2Choose an approved template. Only sendable templates appear — if the list is empty, get one approved first.
- 3Map each template variable to a contact field, so every recipient gets their own values.
- 4Pick the audience: all opted-in contacts, or a segment. The panel shows the reachable count, the estimated cost and your wallet balance before you commit.
- 5Set the send rate. Slower is safer on a new number; the default is 60 messages a minute.
- 6Choose when: send now, schedule a date and time, or set it to repeat daily or weekly.
- 7Review the confirmation and launch.
Statuses
A campaign is draft, scheduled, running, paused, done or cancelled. “Paused” is common and usually not a fault — see below.
Why a campaign pauses itself
- The wallet ran out. Top up and press Resume; the remaining recipients go out from where it stopped.
- Your daily sending limit was reached. It can resume the next day.
- WhatsApp’s own daily limit for your number was reached — Meta caps how many unique customers a number may message in 24 hours, and that cap rises as your number builds a history.
- Meta paused or rejected the template mid-campaign. Fix the template or pick another one.
- Template variables could not be filled for the remaining contacts.
Every automatic pause also sends a notification to your bell, saying which of these it was.
Limits
A workspace has a cap on recipients per campaign and a daily spend cap, both lower for the first seven days while the number is new. The exact numbers for your workspace are shown in the campaign panel before you launch, and support can raise them.
Reading the report
The “Report” action on a campaign row shows recipients, delivered, read, clicked, replied and failed, with a per-recipient table and the reason WhatsApp gave for each failure. “Export all as CSV” gives you the same thing as a file.
Send a test to one opted-in number first. A test is charged like any other message, and it is the cheapest way to catch a wrong variable mapping before it goes to a thousand people.
